Hi, my name is Barry and I suppose like many on this site, I'm an avid backpacker looking for others to share some adventures. For the most part my family and friends don't share my interest, plus I just like to meet new people.
I've been backpacking for many years, starting in Boy Scouts then eventually taking my daughter's Girl Scout troop on many trips. I continue to take trips with friends and groups like Sierra Club whenever I get the chance.
Probably a week long trip my daughter and I took on the AT that included the Priest Wilderness in Virginia.
There tends to be a lot of laughter on our trips, but the incident where we accidently baked black flys in to our muffins still gets a chuckle when that group gets togther.
Too many to recount.... and best told over a beer at the end of a great trip.
I've done several section hikes on the AT, lasting 7 or 8 days and traveling up to 100 miles on a single trip. I'd love to thru-hike the AT someday.

Hello Barry, welcome to the Cincinnati Backpackers. Hope you are able to join us on a hike. There may not be anymore trips posted before September, when it cools off a little. Although, I might do a short trip to Red River Gorge in mid August. Some trips are geared towards newer hikers and some towards more experienced. The shorter/easier trips are a good time too. Hopefully one will work for you.
