Thank you for your service to our country! And Welcome to the Cincinnati Area Backpackers Meetup Group! I read Danny's comments. That partly explains your interest in posting on the "survival" discussion. ;-) You share your military experineces with me and I'll do my best to make you into a top-rate backpacker! Shedding pack weight is a favorite subject with me. My first "real" hike was to the Grand Canyon. I lost 5 toe-nails that trip. I did so many things WRONG!. Anyhow, WELCOME!

Kara, Janet, Todd & I just got back from our tune-up backpack trip in the Red River Gorge. Kara gets my Ms Spirit award. Even though it was her first backpack trip, she shared her knowledge of survival lessons from others & how to appreciate our freedom from her personal experiences serving in with the Army in Iraq. She posesses an effervescent personality, hunger for learning (and trail mix! LOL) and helped us solve several hiking challenges. From 1 vet to another, I salute you Kara. Danny
